Betty’s moms quote “make your own million” was so beautiful, it totally validated all of Betty’s work, her masturbation liberation and her independence, what a gift those words must have been. She’s so committed to doing what’s right for her as is Sheila. I left feeling…If they can do it so can I, but when and how I don’t know. It’s hard to narrow this down but a scene that’s popping into my head now is the scene where Betty and Carl go to the gay man’s bathhouse. What stood out to me is her courage in attending in the first place, though she was super nervous, and then her openness to explore and how she was rewarded for that. Her describing the “gang bang she orchestrated” at a gay man’s bath house was just awesome.
I loved chapter 32. I had a permanent grin on my face from begging to end ! You go girl????????????????????????????. Good for you, breaking so many cultural myths about sex: that as women age they are dried up prunes. Bull shit! Pg. 405 blows (pun intended) that myth out of the water. 2. You had the guts to be in a relationship with a younger man on your terms, breaking another cultural rule that it is only ok for men to have younger partners.

I loved it when. Betty was going to put her art on display and the male Queen would not display certain pieces and she threatened to pack up. She was told if she was going to make a threat to order a moving truck and prove she was serious. Well, knowing. Betty, she got the job done and was able to display her art. Go Betty!!!!
Chapter 10: Feminist Ponographer
I enjoy that Betty could find the humor in any situation and that she was willing to say things out loud. This particular excerpt made me smile, page 118, which was a response at a feminist discussion where they were arguing about sexual labels:
