What is your favorite fantasy will you remember from My Secret Garden? Describe the fantasy and share why you like it.
I don’t own the book yet, only borrowed it from the library so one fantasy I remember liking is about the two young girls and the dog in the barn. The girls are just curious and able to explore without guilt and shame. And they are both there to sort of support each other in that they are both curious and neither shaming or guilting each other.
There is many nice fantasies in the book that I like, but the one that I remembered the most is from Annette (page 24 in my book). She is 19 years old, and her husband often leaves for a business trips, which sometimes takes up to two weeks. Getting closer to second week, she is becoming desperate for intercourse and starts to fantasize when masturbating. Her fantasies expand as she wants more and more. First she was fantasizing about her husband while trusting a banana or cucumber, than it became insufficient to get an orgasm, so she expanded the fantasy to having intercourse with two men – one was her husband and second one from her tennis club. She is than having multiple orgasms and at the end stating that if there is any change that Nancy knows about 4 men who would be interested in having this fantasy come true, she would not refuse..Lovely women with beautiful expending fantasy, and who is fucking cucumbers and bananas.. I am admiring her, that already in such a young age, she is brave to dream about being pleased by 4 men at the same time, and if there is situation in life where this fantasy can come true, she is eager to try. Bravo!
It is difficult for me to pick a favorite fantasy from My Secret Garden. I adore Nancy Friday as the creator of literary pieces that shocked so many people and challenged the idea that women don’t fantasize. I think her work makes people very uncomfortable, which makes me like her even more. She is a true feminist icon for going against the grain and bringing women’s fantasies into the mainstream. With that being said, I don’t think I’ve enjoyed a single fantasy in any of her books. I find the abuse, violence, and racism difficult to get past. The themes in her books are either extremely taboo and intense, or vanilla and underdeveloped. I think Nancy Friday’s books are some of the most important books written on women’s sexual fantasies, but her themes are limiting and represent only the most controversial aspects of sex and kink.
I wasn’t turn on until the fantasies about women and group sex. Rape, incest and bestiality don’t work for me at all. I enjoyed Marina’s about discovering masturbation with a girlfriend at an early age which is very close to one of my favorite fantasy. My girlfriend and I ended up getting caught by me infuriated mother which has still a powerful effect on me today. Haha!
I don’t have a favourite one, I enjoyed the fantasy from Emma ” The Thrill of the Forbidden” on page 139, it turned out to be about all her friends playing sardines, a game I played often although I never had sex with any of my friends. Emma hides under a be din the attic and a boy she’s fancies comes to hide with her, while the others try to find them they have breathless sex in the anticipation of being found.
Reading this my inner teenage self got very aroused !
I have similar Rape fantasies to Dinah ( page 113) I like the idea of men or women having their way with me. I am reminded of my own Fantasy in a women’s prison. Where I’m tied up on a moving wheel, legs spread and arms spread like the Vitruvian Man.
Pg 102 -105 Marion, This fantasy has everything in it. Two woman, an electric toothbrush brush as a strap on. The woman becomes a man being fucked by some motorcycle guy and vs versa she is being fucked by a motorcycle guy. I loved the flipping of the roles from being a woman and fantasizing you are a male. The tooth brush is such a clever idea.
I liked the fantasies of the young girls together. I used to practice kissing and touching in second grade with a friend. It was so honest and pure and brought back memories of innocence and exploration of a few catholic school girls ;). Her name was Susie and we had a small group of girlfriends and everyone liked it when they got to stay at Susie’s. It brought back sweet memories I had forgotten.
